Route Description: Approached from From Como Lake. Skied south face on Ellingwood and northwest face on Blanca. Data: Camped the previous night at two-wheel drive parking. Drove in morning to 8,800 ft on Como Lake road. Left cars at 4:15 am. Reached Como Lake (11,750 ft) around 7 am. Continued on toward Ellingwood. Climbed face. Reached summit (14,042 ft) around 11:30. Stayed on summit for awhile. Began skiing around noon. Skied to about 13,000 ft. Began climbing again around 1 pm. Reached summit of Blanca at 2:30. Followed our ascent route back to cars. Skied to about 9,800 ft. Reached cars at 6:15 pm. Total vert climbed: 6,500 ft. Total vert skied: 5,500 ft. Total time: 14 hr. Relevant Links: My Blog Trip Report |
