Route Description: Up Long's Peak trail to Chasm lake, up to the Loft, below Clark's Arrow, then up Keplinger's to the Homestretch. Descended Keplinger's to Wild Basin. Data: Began from Long's Peak TH (9,410') at 3:45 or so. Followed trail to treeline, then veered over to Chasm Lake. Headed up to the Loft, taking the ramp on the climber's left instead of climbing over the ice falls. Went over the Loft, and down. Crossed into Keplinger's Couloir using a notch below Clark's Arrow. Went up Keplinger's Couloir to the Homestretch, then to the summit (14,255'). Reached summit around 1:15 pm. Began skiing around 1:45 pm. Skied for nearly an hour down Keplinger's to reach Wild Basin. Followed Wild Basin down. Took skis a couple hundred feet above reaching trail in the valley. Arrived at car around 6:15 pm. Total time: 14.5 hrs. Total vert climbed: 4850'. Total vert skied: ~ 4000' + Relevant Links: TGR Trip Report |
